Laboratory Software

This site lists which specialist software is available in each of the SITACS computer laboratories. Many laboratory computers can be booted into either Windows XP or Debian Linux.

Windows XP Laboratories


Software common to all Windows XP laboratories

Software installed on a central server and available in all laboratories
Linux packages are typically installed on a central server rather than installing them on each computer.
Alternate window managers: blackbox, fluxbox, icewm, olvwm
Web browser: mozilla, opera
Office productivity suite: openoffice, staroffice
Database client: oracle
