Postgraduate Information
The School of Information Technology
and Computer Science is commited to advancing the field of
knowledge in information and communication technology and
computer science. To achieve this the School offers highly
sought after postgraduate courses for the IT&T sector.
The current significant shortage of skilled and qualified
IT professionals is predicted to continue and even escalate
into the foreseeable future. Positions where the most intense
demand and pressures are expected over the next five years
include IT strategists, IT business analysts, IT services
consultants, Systems architects, Database administrators.
The main technical skills required include Java, C++ and object
oriented software engineering, web development and design
and networking.
The School's postgraduate coursework degrees are designed
to cater from the beginner through to the professional. For
those with no IT background looking to re-train to enter this
rapidly developing sector we offer a Master of Computer Studies.
The Masters of Information Technology Management provides
relevant academic qualifications for those wishing to advance
to senior IT management positions. For beginners interested
in the MITM or MInfoTech we offer a Pathway Program through
the Wollongong University College. This provides applicants
with an introduction to IT prior to the commencement of the
masters program.
Skills must be updated even after graduation. Life-long learning
is part of job responsibility.
